Classic Albums

For some reason beyond my own cognition, I have started buying CD's.

I haven't bought CD's for years. Even when I did used to buy music from the shops I tended to buy vinyl because of my inclination to DJ, and very rarely bought CD's.

In actual fact I do know the reason; I have rediscovered the album as a holistic entity, and now I'm preparing for it to become my fad of choice by listing those classic albums that I believe are greater than the sum of their parts. So here we go - in no particular order!

BTW - I have self-imposed a one album per band rule - and no greatest hits or compilations.

Radiohead - OK Computer

Corduroy - Dad Man Cat

Pixies - Surfer Rosa
The best Pixies album in my opinion. Influential to a whole genre.

Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin I

Ocean Colour Scene - Moseley Shoals
Steve Craddock and his band at their best. They never really went on to achieve their potential, which is a real shame, but then I did once hear The Day I Caught the Train in a shop in Greece. That would be my ambition sorted!

David Bowie - Hunky Dory

Air - Moon Safari

The Smiths - The Queen is Dead

The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground

The Seahorses - Do It Yourself

Stone Roses - Stone Roses

Underworld - Dubnobasswithmyheadman

TBC!
